Christopher Columbus is the Man, Who introduced tobacco to the Developed Western World or to be more precise Europe.
Two of Columbus’s crewmen found tobacco for the first time on the island of San Salvador in Bahamas. Tobacco was diffused every where on the Caribbean Islands n hence they found it again in the CUBA
In 1592, the Spanish galleon San Clemente brought 50 kg of tobacco seed to the Philippines over the Acapulco-Manila trade route.These seeds were then distributed to Catholic missions , As per the clerics Philippines had excellent climates & soils for the seeds to Grow.
Cigars eventually became very common, in the 19th century. However cigarettes were still rare. As on 1905 there were about 80,000 cigar making operations in the United States itself. A plenty of them were house operated small businesses or shops where cigars were hand rolled n served almost immediately.
Even today as a matter of prestige and quality, some modern cigars are still rolled by hand. There special organizations that provide live cigar rolling services in special events.
